Actually Let's Talk About it: Topics We Often Avoid

Danduff and more

Dandruff...

YEP! Pain in my ass... espcailly during the winter. Here I am, over 30, and having a flashback to early teen trauma of not being able to wear a flipping black shirt. I will do whatever I can to avoid wearing black. Except it sucks because it is winter and black is so in, so chic, so easy and flattering. Dandruff can kindly fuck off because it does not go with any of my outfit ideas.

It started in August for me this year. I started noticing flake after flake and becoming more aware of it almost made things so much worse for me because it kept getting worse and worse. Jump to OCTOBER and I finally went and saw a dermatologist. Side note.. I only went to the dermatologist because I was so embarassed for my upcoming hair appointment. So... I go to the dermatologist. Sorry all you derms out there.. WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME & MONEY! They didn't do anything for me except tell me 1. you have dandruff and 2. your scalp is so dry. Yup. No shit, Sherlock.

While I don't claim to be good at much... RESEARCHING is what I do best. So.. I set out to find the products that I felt could help me.

My shower looks like a beginners guide to "An Everything Shower: The Flake Edition."

The image doesn't lie. It tells you a couple things. The first is that yes, my shower is dirty. I'm not sorry. We live a very busy life, and I literally don't have time. The second thing it tells you is that I have tried a little of everything to get my dandruff under control this season.

Well then What Works?

This is a hard one because we all have different hair. The first thing you should do is figure out what kind of hair and scalp you have because not all dandruff is created equal. So fun, right? I took 3 different quizzes, but found this one to be the most accurate. Once I learned a bit more about which products might suite me the best... I decided I was already in product hell... Let's just go for it.

I spent way more than I care to admit on even MORE dandruff products, but here is what FINALLY has me choosing a gorgeous black top for NYE this year!

My new Dandruff Ride-or-Dies:
  1. ACT + ACRE Cold Processed Scalp Detox Oil

  2. Anti-Dandruff Serum from JUPITER

  3. Aveda Scalp Solutions Refreshing Protective Mist

I use all three of these on top of the GOAT Head & Shoulders Shampoo. AND just like all things... it does take time and CONSISTENCY for things to work. It took me a good solid two months to truly get on top of my dandruff. It was an embarassing journey. My husband wouldn't even use my hair brush and often said "thats gross." So trust me when I say.... Girl/Bruh, I get it... I soooo get it!!!

Fuck those flakes! I truly hope you either don't have any dadruff or you find the products that work well for you!!
